Botcon Report Update:  We'll have more details and pictures, for now check out these videos:

My optimism for Transformers: Animated is now high!  Listening to David Kaye was a real treat.  HERE, my brother asked him (just before video starts), "what other voice actors are in the show and what characters do they play?"  What's really amazing is that he actually answers!  Characters include: Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, Grimlock (which is also voiced by David Kaye!) and (are you ready for this, Knightwing?!)  a garbage truck guest voiced by Wierd Al Yankovich!!!  Awesome!  Among other comments, he spoke very highly of the story and writing and said that he and all the other actors look on with eager anticipation when they get scripts, "excited to hear what happens next..."  HERE is another video from the David Kaye panel!

That is very nice. I like the sound bite on the "character" page.

I was just looking at the convention pics from Botcon.com and saw the vector sigma in the case. Then I refreshed unicron.com and saw your page. Good timing.

Well there's a lot of stupid little reasons that I'm not there. One being I have work. Two being I don't really care for their exclusive figures this year, while I would have killed to have gone to last year's. Last of which is I just couldn't see the movie with out all of my pals. They all want to see it for the first time with me and I can't let them down for that, so I took the blow and passed up the few early days. But I do have my tickets for the first Monday night showing of the film.

Any idea how much it costs to get in at the door? Maybe I'll figure something out and come up for the day.

Perhaps I can make it next year. Almost defenitly the year after I should be able to make it. My problem with going to Botcon is a simple one. I need someone to watch the small kidletts while I go on vaction and Oracle works. But, right now they're 1&1/2 and alomst 5. As they get bigger it gets easier for me to go away for a few days.

Even better, from now on Mpls/StPl can be the offical site of Botcon. No more traveling show. Everything can simply be here ready and waiting every summer. That would make my life easier. And, yes the world does in fact revolve around me. ;)

Sorry, I DO NOT BUY IT FOR A SECOND! with all the news coming down with the cancellation of Titanium and classics vanishing, and this ABOMINATION called Animated series, Hasbro as abandoned their fans for younger pastures. We are tossed to the curb. I don't care if Weird Al is involved.
Knight wing said,  - 2007-07-01 07:44:29
I understand what you're saying Draven. But, you also have to understand that the fan base/adult tf collector only makes up about 30% of the people who watch/buy tfs. On some level they have to "abandon" us. The 30% that we represent isn't enough to keep a series on tv or a toy line on the shelf. If they don't draw some children in, the tfs will ultmitly cese to exist.

Try to be hopeful. After all the animation may suck, but the production staff is really quite good for Animaited. As for Classics/Titanium/Alternators, the fans actually have it very well here. These lines aren't attached to any kind of show/movie/comic book. There for Has/Tak can bring the line back any time they feel there's enough intrest. Perhaps they'll use one/alll of them as a gap filler between Animated and TF2. After all it's only taken 23 years for me to get a garbage truk tf. :)

That is an important thing to remember Knight wing, I think it is good you brought that up. Sometimes we die hard fans can forget we are not really the target audience.

My feelings on Animated were neutral however, but I must say, I am impressed by the cast and guest stars they are getting, including the fastest talker, the guy who did the original Blurr. I always planned to give this show a shot, but now, I am a little more hopeful, despite the animation.

You both have a good point. However keeping that in mind when you look at sucessful shows on tv or movies for that fact, some of the MOST successful are shows that capture BOTH audiances. Not just one. Star wars is a VERY good example.

Very adult content. War. Action (people on both side Die), humor, but seriousness at times. Great look (not stylized to a wierd degree).I could go on. The only thing in that first movie that was childeran orintated was R2-d2 and .3P0.

I was 5 when I saw it. Hooked ever since. Empire was even MORE so. Even scarey. Still loved. Introduced ewoks by the third to get kids.

How many people enjoy ewoks??? Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm going to say, NOT MANY! In some circles they are hated.

Lets take it one step further. Jar jar...remember why Lucas said they created him?

We may not be the target, but what we watch, is often watched by those younger then us. And enjoyed.

I work in TV animation so i can sort of understand all of the decisions by cartoon network so far. Teen titans made 5 seasons, thats a lot! which means the style factor worked, whether it will work for transformers is anyone's guess.

Most of the action based TV shows I work on are geared to a younger demographic with and interest in manga styled action, cool heroes and villains and good storyline. It is definitely not geared towards any particular fan base, since its too hard to please fans. But the fact that they have employed such an amazing voice cast for animated means they are looking to keep us interested, and by all indications they do have us interested at the very least.

Personally i got bored with teen titans. The look factor was "wow" to a point but the novelty passed quite soon for me. My biggest concern is the toys. Stylized characters make the show appealing and this has to translate well to toys for Hasbro to make any real money. From the poster designs i can already see the Best Machines effect taking over. Hasbro doesn't make enough money on merchandise then they may not invest in any more of Animated.

Botcon is lame, TF animated will be lame, Weird Al has been lame for 20 years, and Transformers have been lame since 1987.

Anyone wanting to part with the Classics Thundercracker let me know. It's the one mold they got right since Diaclone ended.

Hope botcon has gone well and everyone has had a blast,I'm sure they have. I really wish I could have made it this year, but work/family obligations and all that. Was really hoping to pick up a few of the exclusives this year. The Unicron vector sigma accessory pack is really awesome btw! Wish I had Alpha Trion as they look really good together. I may get one anyway to support my fav web site. Well only a few hours left till the greatest movie of all time premieres. Happy viewing everyone!

my son is lame. don't listen to him, he needs professional help.
Knight wing said,  - 2007-07-02 20:45:25
Now, that's funny! It's not every day you hear a father say his son is lame. I love that kind of father/son interaction. And, yes I agree with you Dildus' Dad. Your son does need help even if based strictly on where it appears he derived his screen name from. ;)
