Botcon.com has been updated, confirming the rumors that they have, officially sold out of toy packages and have unveiled a new, "Energon Package."  Located in-between "Primus" and "Mini-con," the Energon pack includes everything of the Primus set, except no toys...  Here's are the details:

"The demand for this year's BotCon figure sets (both boxed and loose) has been unprecedented… and they are now officially SOLD OUT.
Since manufacturing of the sets has already been completed, we are not able to obtain additional quantities.

In order to accommodate those who are still planning to attend, we are providing you with two new options:

1) You can still come as a Primus Package holder and we will substitute a 2005 BotCon Boxed Set
Descent into Evil (click here to view) - at the reduced cost of $250 for Club members, $300 for non-members - and in addition,
you will receive this year's free attending figure. Loose sets are also available for $130 for Club members and $165 for non-members.

So that you can see what you will be getting this year, we have decided to do something we have never done before...
we are going to unveil the free attending figure this Friday!

This is the first time we have shown the free attending figure before the start of BotCon!

2) We are creating a new attending package designed for this year only!
The Energon Package includes admission to all events (just like the Primus Package, including the Casino Night Awards Dinner)
a convention badge, pin and comic/program (no toys). The Energon Package is $180 for Club members, $230 for non-members.

Thank you, once again, for your support! We look forward to seeing you in Cincinnati!"

I find it hard to believe that the worst figure set in years has had, "unprecedented demand." A box of 5 toys of evil Autobots and noble Decepticons for 250 bucks having, "unprecidented demand?" Really? Selling out 2 months before the convention (a first) sounds more like poor management, WAY under estimating the number of sets that will be needed. Oh well, I needed to take the year off from Botcon anyway.

Yeah, I have to agree with ABFDHNT, it's poor management. Look how poor it was last year. I couldn't get my order in on time last year. In fact, it was because I didn't know how to access the right page. Its very poor, they could have had three times, if not four times the amount produced last year and this year and still sold out. As I said before, I don't care much about the ones this year, but I'd trade in my near mint Trypticon with all the parts for a 2007 set.

to tell the truth, i could care less about this years set. it wasn't all that it was supposed to be. the only fig that i'd pick up is that trypticon, but seeing that my budget is a little low i couldn't. and that goldbug looks like butt.

I was really bummed out when I heard they sold out of this years set(I started considering waiting until next year to go), but now that they're substituting it with Descent into Evil I'm more anxious to go. Botcon 2005 was the first and so far only Botcon I've attended because it was a short drive away, but I never got the set. I get a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing I'll get the set from the event that turned my "other hobby" into a large part of my life.

Botcon, here I come! :D

you're welcome, btw megatron g1, are you talking about mp05 or this years set? if its mp05 then i'll give a few tips on how to take of him. one, there are tips on his hip armor aka landmines that can be easily broken, two, watch out for the pegs that eject from his triggers they too can easily broken.but aside from that he's the best megs figure we have right now and also earned the rights to being the most complex figure ever!

I always hear of late night trading parties, but I'm sure you can ask the dealers on the floor if they'd be interested. There's no fee for entering the art contests. It's really one of the highlights of the show. So many categories including dioramas. We should suggest a kitbash category. Last year they were lumped in with the dioramas.

thanks, i plan to do away with some of my figs. just needed to know, i didn't want to have to deal with somebody telling me that i couldn't take in my figures. btw, do you know of any guests at this years botcon? (voice actors etc.) because i want to get my megatron fig signed by david kaye. will that cost me anything?

Pics of the giveaway figure is up, Ricochet.

ok, now this set sucks. The color isn't even right! Red and white? His eyes are yellow? Wow.
Energon Hot Shot said,  - 2008-02-29 21:21:05
Not the color scheme I would've picked for Ricochet, but you can't beat free.

Eh, can't go to the Botcon anyway. That Starscream and evil Optimus look cool though.

I was a little annoyed that they did not put a clear visor over a normal face on that Jazz and Ricochet.

The odd thing about Ricochet for me is that he instantly looks like a vehicle mode G2 Snarl to me.

I suppose he was inevitable as they wanted to get some use out of that New Jazz Head.

Someone at Fun Publications must be a fan of Starsky & Hutch with those colors.

I think personally i'd have prefered more Classics made from Cybertron molds,

A Yellow Mudflap as Erector or Grapple or Repaint of Cybertron Downshift as Wheeljack & Slicer or a green Quickmix as Mixmaster would have appealed to me personally more than what we got.

But perhaps Hasbro will be making extensive use of the Cybertron molds in the Universe Line.

Heck I'd have been a much happier fan with that Voyager Starscream Cybertron mold as Sunstorm, Skywarp or Thundercracker.

I also have to hope that any savings they make on less head remolds they'd pass on the customers - but it looks like not.

I think unless they make a total mess of the colors the hi-light of the unseen items will be for me the Megatron and Rodimus and any additional Minicons.

(So long as it's the Superlink / TRU boxed set Megatron and not that oversized Western one).

I do like the Club Nightbeat toy though - that at least is usefull - even if is as often the case th head is not as good as the normal toys.

It's funny as Alpha Trion's & Airazor's heads were fine But I'm not so sure about Nightbeat or Astrotrain.
