Robert Orci Speaks About Transformers 2

The fine folks over at IGN interviewed screenwriter Robert Orci. As well as the new J.J Abrams Star Trek flick, he had a few things to say about Transformers 2:

*Filming starts in three weeks
*It picks up two years after the first film.
*There will be a better balance between the Transformers and human characters. The larger budget allows for more freedom that way.
(and here's the news I'm most excited about!)
*According to Orci, Soundwave and Ravage will definitely be there.

And on a completely random unrelated note. Those of you looking for a halfway decent Sam Witwiky figure, that dont want to settle for that little solid piece packaged in the Screen Battle packs. You might want to take a look at the Indiana Jones "Mutt Williams" figure from Hasbro. The figure is a pretty good scale (just about the same size as "Energon Kicker") and other than the light shirt his costume is a lot like Sam's.

Seibertron.com also mentions this same interview, but they say that Orci confirmed Soundwave being in TF2. Yet, I don't see Orci saying that in the interview when I click the link to it. Did IGN erase that bit of it?

Hmm, that's weird. Last night when I looked at the interview, the third and fourth questions:

"Q: Is there one particular Transformer, good or bad, that you absolutely had to get into the sequel?

ORCI: Yes.

Q: You're not gonna tell us.

ORCI: I'll tell you. We had to get Soundwave in there."

weren't there for some reason. I doubt they wee deleted, but maybe they were cut off by my computer somehow. I don't know how, but that's just weird.

I wonder what he means by that. I actually thought the first one was very well balanced in this regard. If by "better balanced" he means: "MORE robots, less humans" then I'm good with that! :)

That's exactly what he means, Perceptor. It was said awhile back that TF2 would have more bots, less humans, and more Decepticon scenes like the ones the Autobots had when they were conversing in the first film.

Yeah, Perceptor i picked up Mutt the other day. I thought id share my findings. I think i may give it a little paint job with the trusty old air brushes to make it "Movie accurate" if i get some time.

Call it crazy, but I actually understood what dr-fan/mai-lover said with these last ones. I have no idea if this is a gimmick of your's, dr-fan, or if it's genuinly something that just happens, but I must be getting used to it.
