Beast Wars, season 2

Speaking of Unicron showing up in unexpected places!  It was at this time that we went from Transformers fans to fanatics!  In fact, it's no coincidence that it was in October of 1997 when we registered the domain and became, UNICRON.COM!  Check out the 1997 Transformers Section where the left hand media sections now contains links to complete photo galleries of the episodes of Beast Wars' outstanding second season.

14 - Double Dinobot
15 - The Spark
16 - The Trigger, Part 1
17 - The Trigger, Part 2
18 - Spider's Game
19 - Call of the Wild

20 - Dark Voyage
21 - Possession

22 - The Low Road
23 - Law of the Jungle
24 - Before the Storm

25 - Other Voices, Part 1
26 - Other Voices, Part 2

With episodes like Double Dinobot and The Low Road, one can argue it wasn't perfect.  But there's no question it was darn good!  By many fans, it's still considered among the best Transformers television of all time.  Waspinator possessed by the ghost of Starscream, the first official in-show explanation of a Transformers soul, a "Spark."  And Megatron, never before had he been portrayed as such an intelligent and evil scheming arch nemesis!  Bravo to Beast Wars season 2!  The year that Transformers fiction kicked into a whole other gear!

Aaahhh, Beast Wars. How Transformers would be nothing today if not for you back then...

...and actually, this is still season one. If you look at the booklet that comes with the season one DVDs it says that these episodes first aired from January '97 to April after taking a break in December of '96. Season two began with the episode 'Aftermath'.

That's a very interesting question TPR. How popular would Transformers be today if Beast Wars hadn't existed? Of course it's impossible to say, but in my opinion, Transformers wouldn't be nearly as popular without the Beast Wars era in the mid/late 90's.

TPR's right, this is officially still just season one. But we can consider this Season 1, Part 2. Still, I wonder why they decided to do seasons 2 and 3 only half the length of season 1. Or, why season 1 was twice the length of 2 and 3.

(To Sabrblade)
Simple, really: Production cost. Quality vs. Quantity. It's why 13 weeks of pixel-per-pixel labor translates to 22.3 minutes of sweet energon-high. I'd rather have 13 nostalgia-inducing high-res episodes of the "Scotty" McNeil show than 98 30-minute toymercials (still holding G1 to its pedestal). Yay G1, Yay BW for bringing it back from near-death, and Yay Mainframe!

It just hurts that Mainframe is now called Rainmaker, the company that makes all of those Barbie CGI movies. Mainframe had some seriously quality shows, like Beast Wars, ReBoot, Beast Machines (yeah, even BM) but now...

Mainframe was doing the Barbie movies before it changed its name too.

Aside from ReBoot, BW, and BM, Some of Manframe's series that I enjoyed were Heavy Gear, Action Man, Hot Wheels Highway 35 World Race, Hot Wheels Acceleracers.

What's Mainframe called nowadays?
Sabrblade said,  - 2009-01-17 21:55:04
Rainmaker Animation.

Rainmaker??

Ah, well, Beast Wars still got an Emmy.
