which comics are those?

Powermaster Prime did appear in the G1 cartoon. He was in the live action sequences from Season 5.

Well, what I mean is, he didn't appear in the cartoon airing in North America.

Someday we'll get to trying to make sense of all the Japanese continuities, toys and characters. For purposes of a character page for a North American release toy, I want to stick to the continuity seen here as well.

I wish all the exclusive Japanese G1 cartoons would be professionally dubbed and released in the US. There's an idea for Hasbro/Discovery channel.

I remember the days I had Powermaster Prime. Too bad I didn't take care of him. I can't blame it all on me though. My only complaint with this one. The only parts that ever broke were the pegs for the gray guns and the peg where the trailor connects to Prime. Otherwise I'd still have a toy in fairly decent condition. I did but the reissus. Now, I'm mighty careful when I connect any weapons or the trailor. Because of this posting, I think I'm going to take mine out of storage for awhile.

I remember a friend of mine having Powermaster Optimus and even as a kid looking at him I felt my Optimus figure, the original figure, was far superior. I just never really liked the look of the Powermaster figure.

FINALLY!!! The toy representing my all-time favorite Masterforce character at long last has a charatcer page!

I own the TRU reissue of Powermaster Optimus Prime w/Apex Armor, which is essentially the same toy as the rerelease of God Ginrai. Personally, I findt eh Ginral verisons of this figure to be superior to the U.S. versions, as the Ginrai figure has die-cast metal, translucent windows, silver chrome paint, darker gray plastic, retractable super robot fists, and of course Godbomber. However, the reissue version beats them all with blue eyes for the smaller robot form rather than red. My only gripe about the TRU verison is the enlongated missiles, but it's overall a great figure. He may have been sold as Optimus Prime (along with Godbomber being renamed "Apex Bomber"), but the smaller mini-figure used the name "Ginrai" instead of "Hi-Q". Even such, this figure will always be Ginrai to me.

Despite Masterforce not airing int he U.S., Powermaster Optimus Prime did appear in the G1 cartoon's fifth season. As it turns out, "The Rebirth" was not the last episodes of G1, as there was a fifth season of rerun episodes (along with the original movie split into five episodes) that contained entirely new footage of live-action sequences that featured a large animatronic puppet of Powermaster Optimus Prime telling the stories of each episode to the young Tommy Kennedy. While he didn't appear in this Powermaster body in the cartoon portions themselves (as he was the narrator, yet he did appear in them in his original body), these live-action appearances still count as his U.S. G1 cartoon appearance.

This definitely is a real treat for us all.

I do have a lot of love for this figure, since he was my first Optimus Prime figure (even though I was into Transformers a few years earlier, but my parents couldn't track down a regular Prime), and he was just plain one of my few big Transformers.
He was pretty cool, but I still have my complaints... first and formost being that his standard robot didn't transform like the regular figure. It felt so cheap actually, with his chest section being different from the front of the truck, and his head not having a true back section. You couldn't even raise his awesome looking BFG's (big freakin' guns) level to the ground!
And yes, I experienced the trailer and grey cannon pegs breaking too (who didn't?). Super robot arms could have been bigger too.
But he was a good sized figure, and other points aside, looked pretty cool. Not to mention, he gave me a figure big enough to stand toe to toe with Galvatron.
BTW Perceptor, I think what FortMax is referring to are the live action US introductions to the cartoons they had for some of the repeats after season 4. I swear to you this did happen, but they had Power Master Optimus Prime (a combination of stop motion models and a life sized model head and shoulder section I'm sure) hosting the repeats of the cartoons, telling the tales of adventures past to some kid who stood on his shoulder... I think the kid won the part for from some type of contest (I remember wanting to try out for it myself, but never got around to it).
So in the US cartoons? Power Master Optimus didn't make an appearance. But he did have those narration scenes.

Yeah, I know I wrote some of what you did (although I still don't consider there being a US season 5, just re-runs of the previous 4 seasons and the movie). But we do obviously agree with the live action Powermaster Optimus portions.

Even though they weren't actuall "new" episodes, their new openings and live-action sequences distinguish them their first airings. It was kinda like a "Best Of" season.

It's the same with the G2 cartoon. Old episodes with new stuff added to to makes them seem new.

Come the think of it, one could say that the five episodes of the movie could be considered "new" episodes, on account that that was the first televised airing of the G1 movie. And since it had been split into episode form, that would sort of make them "new" episodes.

Also, whatcha mean "again"?

One of the best pages yet. This was a very well done page, with some great toy pics, and some great comic panels, like the one where Prime surrenders to Scorponok. Plus, that list of Optimus toys is just great, couldn't find a missing OP toy. :-)

There's been once at least once (can't remember the exact circumstance) where I was posting something here, and unfortunately took some time to reply to it, only to find that you pretty much said something very similar (or the same) before I posted my reply. If you recall, there was a time or two where you answered a question or made a comment, only to have it followed up by me making the same point, which really did seem redundant, but in fact was that I got distracted, got back to posting, and didn't check to see if anyone had replied in the past few minutes.

Powermaster Prime seems like a ground breaker and also somewhat set a new precedent. After PMOP the supermode became a embodied several times, beggining with Star Saber, and then skipping to RID where OP and a few other characters received these or similar modes for four animes straight. The fig seems awesome and I really want to own a version (if I could I would get Fire guts God Ginrai first).
For his appearences I think he may have appeared in a toy commercial which featured a breif segment of animated powermasters (wasn't alive back then so I'm not sure). Anyway I'm glad you guys made all those pages, especially cause Piranacon and the seacons get a page (happy since I own the japanese version of his giftset). if you guys can though, at some point add the JTF characters in or add onto existing pages (like i'd love to see some kingposeiden screen caps for Piranacon ;)). Overall I love this site mroe and more I come to it almost everyday. Good job guys.

Actually, G1 Ultra Magnus was the first Prime-like toy with a super mode. It dates back to the Diaclone days as Powered Convoy, an upgraded form of the Battle Convoy mech.

Wow for once I wasn't the one to bring that up.
Anyway you're right but I meant a bit more as Powermaster Prime was the first one to distinctly feature a super mode in Fiction as well as figure (at least judging by the pics which seem to show the comics had both robot modes).
