The Touch: Sam's Theme - by Stan Bush

Long time Transformers fans and/or those who have seen the very first Transformers movie from 1986 might be familiar with a song known as "The Touch". This song was known most as the main theme for that movie (aside from the actual Transformers Theme that also played in the movie); featured during the final battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, and shining of the Matrix when Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime, beat Galvatron, and destroyed Unicron. It was later used in the final episode of the third season of the G1 cartoon "The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2", when Optimus Prime used the power of the Matrix to destroy the Hate Plague.

Since then, it has become one of the most famous Transformers songs, known for its kick-awesome 80's-style rock music and hardcore lyrics.

Fast forward to 2009. Stan Bush, the singer of "The Touch", has remade this song for the Micheal Bay movie series, called "The Touch: Sam's Theme". This version is VERY different from the original version and has caused mixed reactions among the fans.

Don't expect it to be like the 80's rock version. Expect something more "modern".

Didn't make it to 1:30.
The original is legendary to me. This new version gets a solid "meh" from me.

The 80s version was better. The new version didn't need the rap in it.

There's also an alternate edit in which he removed the rapper and the guitar player from the video after people made fun of them. (The actual music is unchanged, only the video is altered.)

I don't like the new version at all. Even the original was not all that great. It was an OK song for what it was. It wasn't even very good 80's rock.

5/26: it is just trying to be a cheap knockoff of Linkon Park. Stan Bush should just accept it for what it was. A nice song for a childrens movie. He should stop trying to play rock star.

I like it, even with the "rapping" in it, and I am not a fan of Rap at all. I can't say either version is better than the other because they are very different in tone and style. It's like comparing apples and oranges really. The new version definitely has more of an edge to it, which fits with the new movie. The 80s version really wouldn't work for a movie made today, as evidenced here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD3tjrlNhOo&feature=related. Each version is a product of its time. Both are good pieces, but each fits its era.

The song from 1986 was for me the best...
The new song missed that little bit of a raw voice I think, it was too commercial in its output.

The first song was never been written to be a hit and with the new one I think they're trying too hard, it's too much polished for me...

Too bad it could be a great song, the rap isn't that bad by the way...

UGH! That was bad. I am a huge fan of the '80s version, which I am listening to right now. If he plays this at BotCon, I'm gonna have a headache the whole trip home...
