Japanese Animated packaging

Man, news just keep pouring in this weekend!

The Japanese toy blog www.dannychoo.com has posted brand new images of the upcoming TakaraTomy versions of the Transformers Animated packaging.

Unlike the Hasbro packaging, which consisted of brightly-colored red and blue designs with a rather "cartoony" logo, the TakaraTomy Animated packaging feature a more "epic" and "intense" design. The packaging comes in red for Autobots, violet for Decepticons, or both for verses packs. The main image on the packaging is of the Voyager Optimus Prime and Megatron facing against each other in a heated battle glare filled with rage and determination, as a glowing blue energy light (perhaps the AllSpark) shines in between them in the background. The packaging is topped off with a new logo for the toyline that appears to be based off the desing of the Movie and ROTF toyline logos.

There figures are so shiny... I still wish Optimus' name was "Anime Convoy". I'd laugh.

They're gonna keep him as "Optimus Prime" (as well as "Autobots", "Decepticons", "Bumblebee", etc.) as an attempt to streamline Animated with the Movie franchise (meaning the series will be heavily edited).

While most characters will be unchanged from their western versions (hence the keeping of the U.S. names/terms), some will be changed to better reflect that Movies' main characters. Which is why Bulkhead is renamed as "Ironhide".

Though, had Optimus been renamed "Anime Convoy" ,what would've Sentinel been called? "Jerk Convoy"? :P

I can tell ya that he won't. "Convoy" ain't being used this time around. Still, it's a name worth mentioning.

Though, I really hope that they don't actually attempt to retcon Animated directly into the movieverse (like they did with inserting Car Robots in G1). Tyran and Malgus are far too different to be merged. It would be nightmarish for such a thing to occur.

LOL. No, wait! "SPOON Convoy"! (with "spoon" spelled out in English all-caps letters, and "Convoy" still written as the characters that spell "Konboi")

Though, the real question is, what will they call TFA Ironhide since Bulkhead is now called "Ironhide"? TFA Ironhide is an obvious homage to G1 Ironhide, whose name was still "Ironhide" in Japan. But since Bulkhead took that name, he'll have to have some other name. Maybe "Armorhide"?

WTF!!!!!!!! The japanese packaging looks way better than what we got in america. It's all shiny. Might just get a couple of these.
