Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy colored images

We've seen the unpainted prototype, and now we can see Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy (Rodimus Prime) in full color and in all four of his modes: Rodimus Convoy Vehicle Mode, Hot Rodimus Vehicle Mode, Rodimus Convoy Robot Mode (set atop his trailer's Base Mode) and Hot Rodimus Robot Mode!

Two sources have provided clear images of this beautiful figure in all its glory; Yfrog user GENgoraw's image page and Alfes2010's toy blog. The figure was seen on display at TakaraTomy's booth at the Chara Hobby event.

As these images show, this figure is capable of transforming into both the trailered Vehicle Mode of Rodimus Prime and the untrailer sportscar Vehicle Mode of Hot Rod. However, it isn't the simple mechanism of just attaching and detaching the car to and from the trailer. Rather, it is a more impressive, complex system of conversion that enables each vehicle to have two distinctive fronts that differ in both shape and form.

As for the figure's height, it would seem that he'll at least as tall as (if not taller--which is quite possible--than) Masterpiece Grimlock. It's sad to hear that he may not stand up to the height of Masterpiece Convoy/Optimus, but we take what we get, I guess.

to saberfrost they probably will but like most masterpeice figs released here it probably won't be as good as the Japanese version

Holy Dang! I'm totally sold now. I wasn't initially sure about this Masterpiece figure, mostly because the trailer wasn't incorporated into the robot mode (like his 6" titanium Rodimus incarnation). I've been wondering "What's so masterpiece about that trailer? It's pretty much a larger version of the already so-so G1 trailer" BUT, now I totally get it! It's all for the fact that this is really Masterpiece Hotrod/Rodimus Prime! The trailer is getting the exact same treatment as the eventually released Masterpiece Optimus Prime trailer. It's a scaled up retro original that goes with the new totally mind-bogglingly cool Masterpiece cab. I can't wait for this thing to be released. I'm not always about getting the Japanese imports, but I don't think I'll be able to wait for Hasbro pick up and release this glorious piece of plastic awesome here in the states. BBTS here we come.

Actually, this trailer does indeed differ from its G1 counterpart. The weapons seem to have a little more movability, as well as a few other features. But the biggest difference of all is that the trailer is said to actually be the key to forming the front hood of the Rodimus Convoy Vehicle Mode. Rumor has it that the Hot Rodimus Car mode is inserted into the trailer BACKWARDS and that the new hood folds down fro mthe inside the trailer to lock into place in the back of the car mode.

My only real fear about this figure is, if Hasbro ever decides to release it, that Hasbro would release without the trailer, as it is clear that the trailer is not needed for the Rodimsu Prime Robot Mode and only for the Vehicle Mode.
