Transformers: Reveal the Shield

Ever notice that the upcoming Jazz and Tracks figures are being released under the names "Special Ops Jazz" and "Turbo Tracks" instead fo the typical "Autobot Jazz" and "Autobot Tracks" names? The usual reason for this kind of name scheme would be that these are special (often redecoed) versions of the normal versions, yet these ones are the normal versions. The reason for this has finally been unveiled. It's all part of a new line of toys called Transformers: Reveal the Shield.
The TFCC store has images of four figures for this line: Special Ops Jazz and Fallback, and Turbo Tracks and Mindset. It had been previously believed that Jazz and Tracks would be part of the Generations line, while Fallback and Mindset would be in the main 2010 line. As it turns out, they're all part of the same line.
The name "Reveal the Shield" has to do with a gimmick that has been familiar to the Transformers brand since 1985: rubsigns. Yes, rubsigns of faction insignias are what this line is all about. Closer examination of these packaging images reveals a lack of Autobot amd/or Decepticon insignias anywhere. This is why the Jazz and Tracks toys lack the "Autobot-" suffix in their names. Unless the characters' allegiances are already known, the kids won't know if they're purchasing an Autobot or Decepticon until they rub the rubsign on the figure itself. A rather interesting use of ambiguity, this is.
