Megatron Vs. the Reaper - by Alex Irvine

Before we get to the question that's surely been occupying your every waking moments, we have a brief yet important public service announcement:

If you considers yourself even a vague fan of any era of the Transformers brand and haven't checked out, read (the first 4 chapters), poked around, considered, or out-right purchased Alex Irvine's new book, Transformers: Exodus, do it. If you even kind-of like Transformers, you will love this book, and when you're done reading it, if you didn't already love Transformers, you will by then. The only, yet ever present, problem with this fantastic piece of writing, is that you won't be able to put it down and when you do, it will invariably be because you've finished it, and while part of you will be jittery with excitement for having read such an immensely needed chronicle of the Transformers pre-war/departure to earth history, another part of you will be just plain sad that there aren't more pages to turn. Thank you Alex Irvine (Aaron Archer, Hasbro, Ballantine Books, Del Ray, whoever designed that sweet cover...)! We here at Unicron.com simply can not wait for your next Transformers novel.

Now back to your regularly scheduled news post:
Strait from the personal blog of Transformers: Exodus author, Alex Irvine contemplates an age old quandary posed by Suduvu a few weeks ago: Who would win in a cage fight between Megatron & the Reaper...

Huh. I was hoping for a fight between Megatron and a Reaper from Mass Effect.

Fanfic writers, get on it!

"Magic won’t work on Megatron. Fear won’t work on Megatron." = epic win

Um, okay. Exodus was alright, but it wasn't "the stuff of gods" like this descripion makes it out to be. Still, Megs vs. the Grim Reaper, eh?

Well, that'd be an interesting match, indeed. Though, I've one comment to say about Irvine's take on the fight:

"Megatron doesn’t have a soul for the Reaper to take. He’s got a Spark instead, which is part of the AllSpark, which is nothing like a soul,"

If that's true, then tell that to Bob Forward, cuz he apparently got the idea of Sparks wrong when he and Larry DiTillio came up with it. :P

I look forward to the Megs vs. Reaper read...

But respectfully disagree Sabr. Well, I'm not calling Irvine a writing god, but I rank that story as one of the best pieces of Transformes fiction ever produced. I'm not going to say it was better than TFTM, Code of Hero, or even some of the best writing of TF:Animated... But for as little publicity as this book got, I think it's by far the most underrated TF story, and in my own top 5 best TF stories ever. IMHO.

--I like what plot ponts it leaves for personal interpretation and I also love how it incorporates so many different elements of all the different TF Universes... This is exactly what TF story telling should be! More please!
