Hot news day! The official BotCon website has been updated with new details about this year's BotCon, which will be held in Lexington, Kentucky from September 28 - October 1.
The exclusive toys set will consist of Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rattrap, Rhinox and Dinobot, which are supposed to represent those characters in their pre-"Beast Wars" forms. Since they're reported to come with "Golden Disk Keys", it's to be assumed that they will be redecos of Cybertron toys.
Guests at this year's BotCon will be Blu Mankuma (Tigatron), Richard Newman (Rhinox) and Pauline Newstone (Airazor). Also attending will be Simon Furman and other IDW Publishing employees. Additionally, there will be several competitions that will involve representatives of several Transformers websites and message boards.
Hong Kong-based online retailer Action-HQ has posted the first pictures of Optimus Prime and Megatron from the upcoming "Classics" line that's intended to bridge the gap between the end of the Cybertron line and the "movie" line.
The line is only supposed to consist of a small number of toys, all of them in the Deluxe and Voyager price range. At last year's BotCon, Hasbro showed prototypes of Megatron (Voyager) and Starscream (Deluxe), but didn't allow any photos to be taken during the slideshow. Last month, images of a prototype of Astrotrain (Deluxe) were found at the public website of the Japanese patent office, so it should be only a matter of time until we see the rest of the assortment.
