Classic Grimlock card error fixed; availability improved

As some of you might or might not know already, that card Classics Grimlock is available on features an infamous error with a stock photo of Classics Jetfire being incorrectly identified as "Astrotrain", in addition to a minor typo ("expoit") in Grimlock's bio. These errors have so far been thought to extend to the whole production run.

Now it seems Hasbro have finally fixed both errors with a corrected version of Grimlock's card. TFW2005 member Megatronwp38 provides a photo that confirms this new packaging variation.

In addition, reports are also coming in of Grimlock being available in larger quantities now. Previously, Hasbro shipped out various case assortments that had Grimlock notoriously shortpacked. Now, it seems that Grimlock is finally packaged more evenly as compared to his casemate Mirage. Remember to report your own sightings of Classics Grimlock here!

I saw that too. It realy steamed me off. I felt it was almost as if jetfire was being discrased or something considering he's my favorites character (leaders unincluded).

What a great way to get die-hard colletors to by more stuff. A realtively short run of misprint packaging. A completist 30 years from now might be quite willing to pay $500 or more for an misb Grimlock.

I doubt so. Considering how many people are collecting Transformers these days as compared to 1984, I'd expect a lot of greedy collectors will be hoarding this "error" version of Grimlock.

That is very true. Besides, I've been telling people for a while now that "investing" is the worst reason to collet toys. I don't mean it can't work out for you. But 1: You have to hang on to the toy for years to get it's full value. Which assumes 2: That some one will still be colleting when your ready to sell. There is nothing to say there will be a large colletor base even 10 years from now.

To add to what Knightwing said, Steve Sansweet, who often answers questions involvin g Star Wars collecting, has said that errors aren't really worth that much compared to a correct version. They aren't considered variants, just mistakes.

I have no problem beliving that. But, that would depend greatly on how truely "complete" you want your colletion to be. Personally, I am not a completist. I don't even keep the boxes. I save bio card and instructions, but that's it. I do know that some people get very nutty about having a proper colletion.
