Okay, so it's far from the coolest toy of 1996, but still worthy of mention in the annals of Transformers toy history.  Not unlike the Star Wars Transformers of today, they produced a, "not main continuity" line of Micro versions of Transformers.  It was an attempt to compete with Galoob's "MicroMachines" toys, which at that point was not owned by Hasbro, as it is today.  Orcanoch and ARACHNID had beast modes that turned into a vehicle and also base/playsets for the BW characters.  This all-new "character" page is uploaded and ready for viewing.

The Microverse sets were not made by Galoob (who makes Micro Machines and the Titanium line), as Hasbro had not bought them at that point. The Microverse sets were actually made to compete with Galoob's successful Micro Machines.

That's interesting. I've never heard of this "figure" before. He's neat.

I have heard about these playsets too when the Beast Wars were brand new in 1996. However, I was in the third grade at that time.
