Transformers Auction Prices on the Rise

I find one of the great things about collecting Transformers is watching prices on ebay. Sure, any goofball can put up a toy and list it with unrealistic "Buy it Now" price. But, here are a few interesting real auctions with multiple bids:

MISB G1 Megatron 13 bids, > $3,200
MISB, G1 Soundwave, AFA graded, 10 bids >$1,400
MISB, G1 Starscream, AFA Graded, 6 bids >$610
MISB Thunderwing, 33 bids... $305 (for a pretender!)
MIB Fortress Maximus not positive but looks complete to me! Largest TF ever made 22 bids >$600
MISB G1 Ironhide14 bids >$260
Highest Beast Wars auction I could find, MISB Scorponok, 4 bids >$70
Hightest Beast Machines: MOSC Blackarachnia, 1 bid $10! (ouch!)
Highest TF: Armada auction, loose (5) toy assortment, 3 bids $54
Hightest Energon auction, MISB Optimus, Wingsaber, 2 bids $65
Hightest TF: Cybertron toy auction, MISB Scourge, 16 bids, >$80

Look at those prices soar! As we get closer to the movie, I'd be surprised if prices cool off. I have a MISB Megatron. I remember when I used to think that I got ripped off paying $125 for it ~12 years ago! Maybe I sould sell it and use the funds to buy my next several hundred new Transformers??? Sheesh!

heheh good one BP! Even for 3 grand, I can't even part ways w/ my MIB Megatron. I keep holding out hope that Frank Welker will show up at a Botcon someday to sign.

100 bucks for Scourge? I have the Japanese edition, sealed in mint condition. Wonder how much that'll fetch.

It's not always true, but generally speaking the "foreign" release of a toy is worth (slightly) less the than the US version. That is, there are more TF collectors in the US than there are in Japan (less total people) and US collectors interested in MISB are interested in buying it for nostalgia (want it like when they bought it as a kid). But for people buying it so they can open it, it's "worth" is usually quite similiar. The rarity of a foreign package helps, but not enough to off-set demand for the "original package".

Actually, out of the US release Pretenders, Thunderwing and Bludgeon seem to go for higher prices than the others due to their major rolls in the later Marvel comics (Heck, Bludgeon was the supreme Decepticon commander for awhile in the G2 comics).

I just got Beast Wars II Thrust, the yellow jet on eBay. I usually stick to loose "lots". Gonna open em anyway.

Yeah, amazing what people pay, I'd do it though, it's that important. I remember a G1 Soundwave, prettey beat up, for *ONE WHOPPING PENNY* Anyhow, doesn't surprise me. You gotta make up for ones you trashed after you outgrew it.

Thats weird, I just got done buyig my Beast Wars Scorponok a few weeks ago. he's a really kick @$$ figure if your willing to pay for it. He looks awesome in his emperor scorpion mode and he looks cool in robot mode and hes got about the same poseablity as cybertron Menasor. Oh, and Spyke, I picked up a soundwave from an action figure retailer store close to my city and the guy only charged me $45.00! and it was still factory sealed and everything! Guess I'm lucky.

I got grimlock and Blaster minus weapons or a dollar. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT!
Any way, check all "Penny Bid" items, they usually rock. Like the 5 figure G1 lot.

Ha, I got an accessory-less unbroken Swoop and Punch/Counterpunch for free from an aunt's basement about 6 years ago. Those were my first G1 figures too.
