You heard it here first!  An ebay auction has been posted with the first ever seen pictures of a painted Voyager class Optimus Prime from the upcoming Transformers Movie!  In other ebay auctions we get to see some high quality detailed pictures of Megatron reincarnated as a shoe in Takara's upcoming Nike shoe Transformers line.

The Official Transformers Movie Prequel Novel entitled "Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday" is out in stores now! Make sure to write down the ISBN: 0345497988 and pick one up at your local book store, or check it out at amazon.com. I picked up a copy yesterday at Barnes and Noble. The synopsis on the back of the book reads as follows:

"The first human-alien contact. The last word in galactic warfare. The story you must read–before Transformers rockets to the big screen!

A mammoth robotic being, clearly of alien origin, has been found beneath the Arctic ice. Its advanced engineering dwarfs known human technology, and unlocking its secrets will catapult American science eons into the future. In search of the mysterious artifact’s origin, a covert government agency sends the manned craft Ghost 1 on a perilous journey of discovery.

When a mishap maroons Ghost 1 in the far reaches of unknown space, the ship’s distress beacon reaches the very alien race Ghost 1’s crew has been seeking: the Autobots. The gigantic mechanized beings are also on a quest: to find the Allspark, a device crucial to the salvation of their home world, Cybertron. But they’re not alone. The Decepticons, the Autobots’ brutal enemies, have their own sinister purposes in seeking the Allspark. As these adversaries are drawn together once more, the stage is set for a death-dealing new battle in which each is driven by a single-minded aim: total annihilation of the enemy."

I'm always amazed at how much people will pay for the test shots or early release on line. I will most certinly get V Prime when he's in stores. I'm just not parting with $150 for him. And as for the Nike Sports Label, my preorder is in at BBTS. I'm can't wait to see these.

He seems to lack some of the flames on the side of his hood...

and has pieces that drag on the ground in truck mode.

I continue to be disapointed by the lack of painted silver detailing on all the Optimus Movie toys - I was really hoping that Takara-Tomy would sort that out.

If not I think I'll be disassembling them and spraying all those rather plain looking grey pieces - at least then it would drastically enhance the realism of the truck modes appearance.

He seems to have a chunkier look to his truck mode than the bigger version which seems more long and lean to me.

I think the blue eyes get rather lost in his head - shame they did not got with another color - if only for the toys.

Looking at other auctions I find it shocking that anyone would pay more than $128.00 for the FAB Optimus -

I'm not sure if they'll get full asking price for that one. But, I bet they get more than $70. Maybe I just don't get the "completist" mind set. I personally want to have vairiants of figures, but not at that price for an unpainted test shot. Oh well, I never had any intent on completisim anyway.

I haven't decided which version—the Voyager class or the Leader class—I will get yet. The Voyager class one is currently in the lead though. The robot mode seems to be more movie accurate and it has an actual detailed cockpit, which is a big plus in my book. I think the transformation makes more sense too, though neither version is entirely accurate to the movie

I doubt we'll ever get a trully movie accurate figure. In the movie the cgi animation allows for a level of complexity no toy mfg could replacte. That said from what I've seen the Leader class OP is probably closest if your only going to get one.

I've based my collecting on all the vairous molds of Prime, Megs, and bots they combine with. Thankfully, I don't feel it compelled to get all the color variants. Some of them are quite expensive. So, I'll get all the differnt movie Primes and Megs. It'll be fun.
