Well, that animation still looks the same, it's from the guy who does Teen Titans... I can see it actually. I guess only time will tell if this show will stand up as anything good or not.

Im just curious to see how the toy line will translate from there designs....also i would like to add. im glad they brought back primes faceplate in instead just having it used in battle as armor, or what ever their reason was

there prolly won't be a toy line,and MAN that's ugly.

Actually if you read the press release it says Hasbro is doing a toy line for the show. The way the TF shows usually work is people at Hasbro design the robots as toys and then the show animators take it from there, using the toys to do the animation. Obviously they have had some free liberty in animation design here.

The only exception to this rule is the movie coming out next week, there the movie people designed the robots and then Hasbro made the toys from the movie designs, so it was done in reverse.

Optimus = Robin
Bulkhead (military?) = Cyborg
Bumblebee = Beast Boy
Prowl (motorcycle?) = Raven
Ratchet = Starfire

I was pretty bummed after the first look at Optimus, but now, I'm kinda liking the new look. I think it's got some potential. This could be a really interesting chapter for Transformers. I mean I'd prefer well done smooth simple stylized animation to the shotty animation of Armada any day of the week.

This is absolutely horrible, they have totally destroyed the transformers look, I only collect Beast Wars and Movie toys, so the toy line won't change my mind. The show better have some good stories, like Beast Wars, that's the only thing that might change my mind.

I've said it about the movie, and I'll say it about Animatied. The writing is the most important part of any show. And while Danny Phantom wasn't the best cartoon I've seen, X-Men and TMNT were both very watchible (all 3 writen by Marty Isenberg).

good god, that's awful. like i said earlier, Megatron can not be that horrible looking. he'll probally be a tank. also get a Power Master prime page up please

I'm with you Obsidian. I hated the first pic of Prime, as we well know, but this second picture is much better in my opinion. I'm kinda surprised they went with Bulkhead for the name of that one guy instead of Hound... quite frankly I'm more surprised they picked that guy instead of Ironhide, but anyway, knowing the series that the writer has done, I'm feeling a little more confident in the series now. I'm actually kind of intrigued to see the series play out... and to see the toys; by God that Bulkhead guy's legs are small...

Wow, some of you guys will watch/buy anything as long it has Transformers in the name. This is an abortion of an idea, and while the G1 show is a train wreck when you go back to it, it at least looks good with the sound off. If writing is the only thing good about it then write a book and spare me the horrible imagery of this "artwork".

Diaclone only, everything else = crap.

I'll rip out their OPTICS!
But seriously, I'm concerned about the toys right now.

BTW there is a higher res image here:

It looks like "Transformers meet Justice League" to me. They should had gone more robotic instead of the "Metal Tights" look.

Give them a more angular, well proportioned look, and I would be a raver. All of the designs have potential. If the toys have a more traditional transformers look to them, I will be happy. But I won't even look at the toys if they look like the drawings. Bulkhead has an even more disproportionately large body than Grandus! That does not look good in toy form or cartoon form.
I know that people will tell us "If you don't like it, don't watch it." and "Just don't buy the toys." but something like this can give the franchise a bad reputation of being for 1 year olds. What if the Preeschool/Go-bots line was the main line? Would you be proud to be a fan?

Oh...that is the worst thing I have ever seen. And I watched the entire RID cartoon.

Man, I really hated that first pic of Optimus I saw for this show.
But now that I see some more, with all the major Autobot characters... I still hate it.
It's just terrible how they keep reinventing Transformers. And now, they have to dumb it down this way, by giving us the Transformers in this form and style.
Now, when they did the angular Batman and Superman for the late 90s' cartoons, it took a little adjusting, but the shows were redeemed by good writing (usually).
ANd I even got into Teen Titans for awhile, even though the art style was more out there even than Batman/Superman.
But these are Transformers. It should apear that they can proportionally convert from one form to another.
And from my first impression, it looks like they want to do a Justice Leauge kind of thing for them, with only a small band of characters.
Transformers is supposed to be an entire race in a civil war (with the exception of BW).
I don't know, this concept just stinks to me.

I actually rather like Broadside - he looks like that Custom Landrover from the Judge Dread Movie in vehicle mode and like Animated Bane in robot mode.

But the earlier comments I think hold true it will depend on what the toys look like for me how much I regard or ignore the TV show - as much as the tone of the show itself.

If the show is nothing special I can just ignore it as I have the Playskool Transformers Go Bots show.

But I'd be mortified if the toys are not up to scratch - but with luck Hasbro will show images of the toys or even the toys themselves at Botcon '07.
